Photography by Matthew Hynam and Enlightened Lighting

Secondary School Projects

Hazeley Academy

Colour Light Texture was a year long project with Hazeley Academy in Milton Keynes with Studio KAH . This Public Arts Project, sponsored by Milton Keynes Council -  involved a series of  workshops exploring  architecture and art,  film-making, drawing, photography and screenprinting. We gave students cameras and asked them to film the journey from home to school. We  found images of light colour and texture. The images informed practical workshops making temporary artworks in school using screenprinted collages of images – and the final permanent  artworks which explore the ideas in glass, concrete and  a film of our own edited by Matthew Hynam.
Our installation attempts to create a new kind of space – welcoming the imagination and inviting contemplation and rest.

Carole works in primary and secondary schools on visual art projects making site specific installations. Discussion, drawing and photography are a starting point to inspire ideas around a theme and this raw material becomes the imagery for screenprints, digital prints, projections  and  paintings.
She works collaboratively with the students and uses techniques which often surprise students who have previously thought they were 'no good at art'. She also shows staff how to understand and incorporate these techniques simply and inexpensively into the classroom.  She has worked with photographers, filmmakers, poets, theatre designers, dancers and musicians.
